ALGIERS – Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army said, Monday in Béchar, that “today’s priority” consists in “accelerating” the election of a president of the Republic within “constitutionally acceptable deadlines” as these “deadlines are today nearing limit.”
“We will always repeat that that priority today consists in accelerating the election of a president of the Republic within “constitutionally acceptable deadlines,” said Gaïd, on a working and inspection visit to the 3rd Military Region in Bechar.
These “deadlines are today nearing limit and it is up to the Algerians, loyal to their country to fin now the most efficient way to achieve it (elect a president).”
In this regard, he underlined that the organization of the Presidential election “as soon as possible and in the best conditions of transparency and credibility constitutes a fundamental component that requires the genuine democracy in which some adepts of the political and ideological one-upmanship unfortunately do not believe. They rather regard the elections as a choice not a necessity.”
