Algeria – Speaking at the installation ceremony of Abderrachid Tabi, First President of the Supreme Court, Slimane Brahmi, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, defended the action of the Justice which led up to the detention of several former senior executives of the state as well as businessmen.
“There will be no special treatment,” said the Minister, adding: “Law is equally applied to everyone …Everyone should be treated equally under the law.”
In this context, the new Minister highlighted that the justice sector is experiencing “milestones” that will result in more “independence and accountability”. Because justice is, according to him, the only refuge of Algerians for equity and equality.The minister has also called on the magistrates to show their ethics and put forward the principle of “fair trial”.
