Algeria –  France officially supports the calls for democratic dialogue launched by the Head of State, Abdelkader Bensalah, as a suitable solution to the political crisis prevailing in the country since February 22nd.

In an interview published by the French magazine Le Point and reported by AFP, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian pointed out that France is “attentive” to “the spirit of responsibility and dignity prevailing in Algeria since the beginning of the demonstrations.

Supporting calls for dialogue launched by the government, Le Drian believes that “the solution is the democratic dialogue “. “In these historic moments, we will continue to be attentive to Algeria and the aspirations of Algerians, with respect and friendship that preside over our relations,” he added

For him, “the only wish of France is that the Algerians can find together the paths of a democratic transition”, adding: “This is what we want for Algeria and that is what we hope, given the deep ties that bind us. We are confident in the spirit of responsibility and dignity that has prevailed since the beginning of the demonstrations and which arouses admiration “.

Earlier, Head of State Abdelkader Bensalah urged  the political class, civil society and national figures to adopt a “comprehensive dialogue” to “reach consensus” and break the political crisis.
