Algeria – The powerful businessman, Mahieddine Tahkout, boss of the TMC group, was placed, Monday morning, under arrest warrant by the investigating judge of the court of Sidi M’hamed, Ennaher TV reported.
Shortly before 6:00 am, members of his family were still heard by the investigating judge, including his brother Rachid and his children Billel and Hamid.
The Tahkout family, which has become one of the most influential families in the country, is pursued in several cases related to the obtaining of undue advantages. These include benefits obtained from the National Agency for Investment Development (ANDI), the National Office of University Works (ONOU) and the urban and suburban transport company of Algiers ( ETUSA).
From yesterday afternoon to late hours, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, former ministers Youcef Yousfi, Abdelghani Zaâlane, the current Minister of Tourism Abdelkader Benmessaoud and the former Wali of Algiers Abdelkader Zoukh were being questioned over granting benefits to Tahkut.
