ALGIERS- Five Algerian movies will partake in the short and feature film competitions of the 8th Oudja Maghreb Film Festival scheduled on 11-15 in Oujda (Morocco), organizers announced.
These two Algerian productions will be competing alongside “Fatwa” by Tunisian Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud, “Portofarina” by fellow Ibrahim Letaief, “Shout of the Soul” by Abdelillah El Djouhari and “Ordinary Emergency” by Moroccan Mohssen Basri.
“Synapse” by Noureddine Zerrouki, “So be it” by Youcef Mahsasse, and “Point Zero” by Nassim Boumaiza will represent Algeria in the short film competition.
The jury of the short film competition will be chaired by the Algerian film critic Ahmed Bedjaoui who will also host a workshop on the history of Algerian cinema.
The festival will pay tribute to figures from Maghreb cinema, including director Rachid Bouchareb, Tunisian actress Fatma Ben Sidane and Moroccan director Saad El Cheraibi.
