ALGIERS – The handicraft fair that opened its doors on Tuesday night in Algiers, recorded the participation of nearly 50 artisans from all over the country to showcase different creations highlighting the authentic Algerian heritage.
Organized with the participation of Chambers of Crafts of several provinces of the country, this artistic rendez-vous is an opportunity to discover, for four days, the joyful Algerian craftsmanship made by artists who have excelled in making quality products and contribute to safeguarding the heritage.
Various handicrafts are exhibited, as part of this event, including pottery, ceramics, brassware, jewelery, textiles, embroidery, traditional dresses, cooking and traditional cakes.
In a statement to the press after the opening ceremony of the event, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Abdelkader Benmessaoud said “the organization of such events in this period will allow citizens to prepare for the festival of Aid El-Fitr “.
“Craft products find their place in the various public spaces or even on the beaches during the summer season with reasonable prices,” said the Minister, stressing the importance of organizing these events in all regions of the country for the promotion and preservation of the national heritage “.
Mr. Benmessaoud also emphasized the “promotion of the traditional product, its protection against counterfeiting, the facilitation of access to the raw material, the strengthening of training to improve the quality and the encouragement of creativity “. He also called on officials of public and private hotel structures to reserve spaces to display these products and to furnish the hotels with traditional products. ”
