Algerian film “Papicha” screened at Cannes Film Festival 2019

Algeria-The film “Papicha” by Algerian director Mounia Meddour, was creened last night at the Cannes Film Festival 2019.

The film, a production with the contribution of France (36.72%), Algeria (32.81%) and Belgium (30.47%), realized in 2018, was classified in the category “in some perspective” “Un certain regard” of the 72nd edition of the festival to be held from May 14th to 25th.

This feature film (1h30) by Mounia Meddour looks back at the daily life of young women in Algeria in the 1990s.

In the same category, the animated film “Swallows of Kabul”, inspired by Yasmina Khadra’s eponymous book, is also selected.
