ALGIERS – Minister of Culture Meriem Merdaci announced the “creation of a monitoring and surveillance committee” at the central level to support international festivals in a meeting with the festival commissioners, said Tuesday a statement from the ministry.
The minister called on the commissioners to “define alternative financing for festivals by “sensitizing the local authorities” to the importance of these festivals in the animation of the economic, cultural and artistic life.
Regarding the technical means of managing festivals, the minister called on the commissioners to “use the technical means of the supervisory institutions” who have, according to the statement of the ministry “experience in organizing such festivities.”
Ms. Merdaci insisted on “respecting the laws and regulations governing these festivals,” the statement added.
