UGTA: Three-Day Strike for Postal, Telecom Workers

Algeria – Workers in the Post, Telecommunications, and Digital Technology sector will hold a three-day strike, scheduled for April 28, 29 and 30, calling for the amelioration of their socio-professional situation.

This walkout was decided, Thursday, by the National Federation of Postal Workers and Telecommunications and Digital Technology  at a rally held in front of the headquarters of the UGTA (General Union of Algerian Workers).

Criticized for its silence over their grievances, the union protests against the ministry of guardianship, accused of “abuse of power” and “arbitrary sanctions and dismissals”. Thus, the Federation, denounced in a statement, the policy initiated by the Ministry, calling for  “dialogue” for the resolution of the socio-professional problems of postal workers and employees of Telecom.

Among the demands raised by trade unionists is, among other things, the “revision of the salary scale for all professional categories”.
