ALGIERS – Vice president of the Presidential Council of Libya’s Government of National Accord Ahmed Miitig, highlighted on Thursday Algeria’s role in resolving the Libyan crisis, describing it as “a pivotal country in the region”.

“We are looking forward, thanks to this visit, a strong return of Algeria in the Libyan cause, because it is a country on which we count enormously to reach a settlement,” said Mr. Miitig on his arrival Thursday in Algiers for a two-day visit.

He said that the Libya’s Government of National Accord  “is conducting consultations with all parties, neighboring states and countries that support the democratic process and the civilian character of the Libyan state”, as part of the process of political settlement of the crisis that has shaken Libya since 2011.

Moreover, the Vice President of the Presidential Council of the Libya’s Government of National Accord praised the relations binding the two countries, “welcoming” his presence in Algeria, “a neighbor country that shares the common history with Libya”.

Upon his arrival at Algiers Houari Boumediene International Airport, the Vice President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan National Union Government was welcomed by Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum.
