Algeria – The Presidency of the Republic is inviting all political parties as well as representatives of the civil society and other national figures to a consultation meeting, on Monday 22 April, on the upcoming presidential election, due to take place on July, 4th, 2019.

In a statement issued on Thursday night, the chairman of the Islamist party MSP, Abderrazak Makri, rejected the invitation, revealing that this latter has been signed by the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic Hebba El-Okbi.

For the MSP of Makri, this meeting is an “attack on the will of the people and would only amplify the crisis”. To this end, Makri announces that his party will boycott this meeting,  calling on all political parties to boycott it too.
