Death of Algerian painter Noureddine Ferroukhi


ALGIERS- Visual artist Nourredine Ferroukhi, a famous Algerian painter and trainer at Les Beaux-arts School, passed away Wednesday morning in Marseilles (France), at the age of 60, said his family.

Born in 1959, Noureddine Ferroukhi has had numerous group exhibitions in Algeria, Europe and other Maghreb countries, as well as five solo exhibitions since 1986.

the deceased had taught for many years at the Higher School of Fine Arts “Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts”.

In 2001, he founded with other Algerian visual artists including Karim Sergoua, Zoubir Hellal and Ammar Bouras the group “Essabaghine” with view to renew Algerian art.

In 2016, Noureddine Ferroukhi unveiled his latest solo exhibition, “Brin d’amour”, revisiting with a fresh eye the myths and lover traditions of the Maghreb and the Mediterranean.
