Aïn Temouchent: kick-off of 11th National Puppet Festival

AIN TEMOUCHENT- The kick-off of the 11th edition of the National Puppet Festival was given, Sunday, at the House of Culture of Ain Temouchent, which hosts 10 cultural troupes, the organizers said.

Festival curator Ali Bouchikhi has reported that this edition comes back after a two-year break and represents an “important” step, welcoming 10 troupes specializing in puppet theater from seven provinces.

The same official added that the festival, which runs until April 4, is of “particular importance, because it is a meeting point between different troops activating in this kind of theater and it is also an appointment exchange of experiences and a training opportunity, especially for young troops “.

For his part, the director of culture of Ain Temouchent province, Ahmed Moudaâ, said, during the official kickoff of the festival, that this event will be a direct contact with the public, including children during these holidays”, announcing that the troops will cross many institutions.

The dramatic artist, Said Missoum, who has a 40-year career in theater, was honored at the opening ceremony of the festival.

Said Missoum has many works that have had great success in children’s theater and puppetry, including “Djeha and Hdidouane”, “Aziouza” and “A ride in Algeria”.

The theatrical performance “Pinocchio”, by the troupe of Oran Regional Theater, was given at the opening of the festival.
