ALGIERS- Minister of Post, Telecommunications, and Digital Technology Houda Imane Feraoun announced that Algeria has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the General Assembly of the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT), during the 42nd session of the Pan-Arab Organization held Sunday in Algiers.
Algeria “has earned its place in the world of space technologies and will benefit from the experience of ARABSAT in a very competitive market,” she continued.
For his part, the Arabsat Executive Chairman, Khaled Ben Ahmed Balkheyour that “Algeria, Tunisia and the Sultanate of Oman have been selected to the Board of Directors for the next session alongside five permanent member states, namely; Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia “, noting that the organization” has revenues of more than $ 265 million and profits estimated at $ 74 million “.
This session was preceded by the holding on Saturday in Algiers, of the meeting of the Board of Directors of this organization.
The agenda for this session was the adoption of the annual report of the Board of Directors, the organization’s accounts for the 2018 financial year and the adoption of the 2019 budget.
ARABSAT was created in 1976 by member states of the Arab League, including Algeria. The headquarters of the organization is in Riyadh.
