Arab Summit 2019: Promoting peaceful approach, dialogue in Arab crises’ settlement

“Algeria, which calls for “promoting the peaceful approach and dialogue for the settlement of crises in the Arab world, is convinced that this is the only way to preserve the security of our Arab region and the sovereignty and unity of our countries, “said the Deputy Prime Minister Ramtane Lamamra, speaking at the regular session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs, preparatory for the 30th Arab Summit.

Algeria “continues its tireless efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis, considering that the political solution remains the only way to put an end to the Libyan suffering to preserve unity, sovereignty, security and stability of this brotherly country and respond to the aspirations of the Libyan people for development and prosperity, “Lamamra said.

He also reaffirmed Algeria’s support for the “Inclusive National Conference of the Libyan Parties scheduled for April in the city of Ghadames”.

Regarding the crisis in Syria, Lamamra said that Algeria “has advocated from the outset of the deadlock the political solution that is based on dialogue and national reconciliation, to preserve the sovereignty and stability of Syria and the unity of the Syrian people and territory “.

He reaffirmed Algeria’s support for “the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to find a political solution that can bring the Yemeni brothers together, through global dialogue and national reconciliation, to restore their security and concretize Yemeni aspirations for prosperity “.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed the “unshakable” position of Algeria, which considers the Syrian Golan as “occupied Arab territory, in accordance with the resolutions of international legality, including resolution 497 of 1981 , which rejects the decision of the Zionist entity and its arbitrary measures concerning the Golan, considering it null and void “.

He stressed, in addition, “the need for the international community to respect the resolutions and the UN Charter, especially as it is inadmissible to seize, annex with force, or to illegally recognize the sovereignty of a given territory, particularly by the countries with primary responsibility for preserving and maintaining international peace and security under the United Nations Charter “.
