Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, CEO of Sontrach, said he supports the popular movement that Algeria has known for a month.

In a letter to the employees, the boss of the country’s first public company praised what he described as the “high level of consciousness and maturity” reached by the Algerian people.

Moreover, Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddou has denied any punitive measures taken against Sonatrach employees because of the recent strike movements in support of the popular movement.

“I appeal to your high sense of duty to remind us all that Sonatrach is a business whose purpose is to provide our country and its people the means of development,” he said in the letter.

“It’s clear that our first duty is to maintain and continue our engagement for our nation,” he added.
