ALGIERS- Foreign Ministry general secretary Noureddine Ayadi will lead the Algerian delegation to an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey on Friday to discuss the circumstances surrounding the terrorist attacks on two mosques in New Zealand, said Thursday a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
The “secretary general of the Foreign Ministry Noureddine Ayadi will lead the Algerian delegation to the Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will meet on March 22, 2019 in Istanbul (Turkey) to examine the circumstances related to the criminal terrorist attacks perpetrated on March 15, 2019, against two mosques in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand,” the same source said.
“This emergency meeting will discuss the measures that the OIC must take to counter the extremist discourse, behind the Islamophobic and xenophobic behaviors against the Muslim communities,” he said.
The meeting will also be “an opportunity to raise the awareness of the international community on the dangers conveyed by these scourges and to identify the means to cope with them,” concluded the source.
