ALGIERS- An exhibition of Algerian products will be organized in Nigeria “during the second half of 2019,” in order to allow the Algerian operators to forge partnerships with their Nigerian counterparts, a trade ministry official announced Monday in Algiers.
The purpose of this information day is to give an overview of the Nigerian market to the participants, whose objective is to increase Algerian exports, excluding hydrocarbons, Bahloul explained.
In this context, she recalled that Nigeria was a “very important” market for Algeria, saying it was time for Algerian operators to explore their potentials.
In 2018, the bilateral trade balance was in deficit for Algeria with imports of $ 700,000 (against 1.9 million dollars in 2017) from Nigeria and Algerian exports of $ 500,000 (against $ 300,000 in 2018) to that country, ranked first oil producer in Africa.
According to her, the increase in Algerian exports to Nigeria remains insignificant, noting that the organization of specific exhibitions can help Algerian operators better understand the Nigerian market.
During the seminar, the chargé d’affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Algeria, Murtala Jimoh, emphasized the need to promote economic and trade relations with Algeria to breathe new life into them.
