France’s Macron “salutes” Bouteflika’s decisions


Algeria – French President Emmanuel Macron reacted today to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s decision to postpone the presidential elections of  April 18 and to abandon his candidacy for a fifth term.

While welcoming this decision, Emmanuel Macron calls for “a transition of a reasonable duration,” reports Agence France Presse.

Yesterday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian also welcomed the decision of Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika not to seek a fifth term and to “take steps to renovate the Algerian political system”.
