FM Messahel receives Romania’s Minister for Relations with Parliament


ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel received, Sunday in Algiers, Romania’s Minister for Relations with Parliament Viorel Ilie, with whom he broached bilateral relations and the ways to boost them.

The visit “comes as part of the Romanian Foreign Minister’s visit to Algeria,” Messahel said after the meeting, adding that talks focused on “bilateral relations, especially as Romania ensures, currently, the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU) until next July “.

In addition to examining all the cooperation files and ways of strengthening them, particularly in the area of ​​economy and trade, the interview was an opportunity “to evaluate the bilateral relations, which date back to independence, “he pointed out.

After recalling the visit last week of Romanian businessmen to Algeria, the minister said that the hearing also allowed the examination of the situation in the region and the role of Algeria in its stability, as a Mediterranean country, having “strong relations” with the EU.

For his part, Mr. Ilie Viorel, stressed the importance of preserving stability and security in the Mediterranean, especially as his country currently holds the rotating of EU presidency, praising the role Algeria in this respect and in the fight against illegal migration.
