Algeria’s role in establishing security in Mediterranean region welcomed


ALGIERS- Romanian Minister of Relations with Parliament Viorel Ilie welcomed Wednesday in an audience granted to him by Speaker of the Council of the Nation Abdelkader Bensalah Algeria’s role in establishing security in the Mediterranean region, said a communiqué of the Parliament’s Upper House.

The meeting held at the headquarters of the Council of the Nation in the presence of the Minister of Relations with the Parliament, Mahdjoub Bedda, and the Ambassador of Romania in Algiers, Marcel Alexandru, allowed the two parties to review issues of common interest, at the top of which security and stability in the Mediterranean region.

Viorel Ilie, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the EU, hailed “Algeria’s role in the establishment of peace and security in the Mediterranean region”, describing Algeria as “a haven for stability”.

Both officials reviewed bilateral relations in various areas and ways to promote them, serving the interests of both peoples and countries.

On this occasion, Mr. Bensalah expressed “the readiness of Algeria to give a new impetus to relations, with a view to promoting them to reach the level of excellence.

At the parliamentary level, the two parties reiterated “their willingness to increase the pace of exchange of delegations and visits to support the efforts made to diversify economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries”.
