CAIRO- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel took part Tuesday, in Cairo, in a ministerial tripartite meeting on Libya which also brought together Foreign Ministers of Egypt Sameh Choukri and of Tunisia Khemaies Jhinaoui.
In his speech, Mr. Messahel reiterated “the Algerian approach based on the triptych of non-interference, equidistance and Libyan ownership of the crisis resolution process in their country”, recalling “the importance of inclusive dialogue and national reconciliation for the implementation of the UN Plan of Action “.
He also reiterated Algeria’s “continued support” for the role of the UN and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya, Ghassane Salame, commending his efforts to “bring the parties closer together”. and Libyan actors for the implementation of the plan of action to end the political transition in Libya “.
Mr. Messahel also recalled “the duty of the international community and regional and international partners of Libya to accompany the Libyans, without interference in their internal affairs, on the path of dialogue and national reconciliation”.
This meeting was sanctioned by the adoption of a communiqué that underlines “the importance of pursuing political dialogue between the three countries, including the fight against terrorism and its financing.
