Protests in Algeria: One person passes away, bank burned


Riots and clashes between protesters and security forces took place near the Hotel Saint-Georges on the road to El-Mouradia. An elderly man died after being evacuated to hospital, due to respiratory failure.

Dozens of protesters were prevented by the security forces from advancing towards El-Mouradia, where the Presidency of the Republic is located, triggering riots.
According to El-Bilad, an agency of the Banque Extérieure d’Algerie, which is near the hotel Saint-Georges was burned by unknown persons.
