ALGIERS- A memorandum of understanding between Sonelgaz and the Mauritanian group HB was signed Wednesday in Algiers for the joint execution of energy projects and the marketing of Algerian electrical equipment in Mauritania and other African countries.
This document was initialed by Sonelgaz group’s CEO, Mohamed Arkab, and that of HB, Hamadi Bouchraya.
Through this Memorandum of Understanding, Algerian and Mauritanian groups confirm their intention of achieving a lasting partnership enabling their subsidiaries to take charge, jointly or in the form of groups or subcontractors, of transmission and distribution works of electricity and gas in Mauritania and other African countries.
It will also allow subsidiaries of Sonelgaz group, which activate in industrial production, to export their products (equipment and materials) to Mauritania and other countries of the continent, as explained at the signing ceremony.
The proposed partnership consists of the establishment of Sonelgaz group in Mauritania through the creation of several business combinations with the companies belonging to the Mauritanian group HB.
According to Arkab, Sonelgaz group will offer Mauritania, whose electricity and gas network is currently booming, “superior quality and competitive prices for its products (cables, accessories, engines, pylons …) “.
“Our goal is to open long-term partnership prospects, which can go beyond Mauritania’s borders, starting with Mali and Senegal,” said the same official.
