Algeria’s Presidential Elections 2019: Prime Minister Ouyahia reacts to the latest demonstrations!


Algeria – Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia reacted today, Monday, February 25, to the latest protests across the country.

Before closing the presentation of the Government’s General Policy Statement to People’s National Assembly, Prime Minister reacted to the protests that marked the country on Friday and Sunday.
He immediately recalled that the “Constitution guarantees citizens the right to demonstrate peacefully” adding that the latest demonstrations are just peaceful.However, Ahmed Ouyahia called on citizens to be alert to anonymous calls. “For now, these are calls for peaceful demonstrations, but later, it could be of another nature,” he worried.

He warns against “slippage” that can be “dangerous”.

In addition, Prime Minister did not fail to salute the professionalism of the security forces who managed, calmly and “peacefully” the demonstrations.

Only the ballot boxes can decide
For Ahmed Ouyahia, citizens have the right to defend any candidate and refuse any other, insisting that refusal should be done peacefully, highlighting that in less than two months, Algerians can choose their president freely.

He also recalled that President Bouteflika announced in his program  the organization of an inclusive national conference.
