HAVANA- The Minister of Culture, Azzedine Mihoubi was received, Saturday evening, in Havana (Cuba), by the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and head of the Department of International Relations, José Ramon Blaguera Cabrera.
Mr. Cabrera welcomed, on this occasion, the “solid historical relations” uniting Algeria and Cuba, believing that these relations “were not only limited to political and diplomatic aspects, but are also marked by common feelings” .
“I am very happy to be here in Cuba as part of the 28th edition of the International Book Fair of Havana, which hosts Algeria, as guest of honor,” highlighted Mr. Mihoubi, adding that Algeria “shares with Cuba, by its presence, the festivities of the 60th anniversary of its revolution”.
On this occasion, the Minister presented in Havana, his latest novel translated into Spanish.
The presentation ceremony was enhanced by the presence of several Cuban literary scholars and intellectuals, led by Cuban Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso Grau, as well as the president of the Cuban Institute, Juan Rodriguez Cabrera.
The latest novel by Mr. Mihoubi tells the story of a young Spanish native of Barcelona, whose fiancée was found death following the terrorist attacks of March 11, 2004 in Madrid. The young man decided to take revenge in his own way, but, at the end the unexpected happened!.
“My novel (…),” said Mihoubi, “calls for dialogue with others within different societies …”.
The Cuban Ministry of Culture took charge of the translation of 21 Algerian novels as part of Algeria’s participation in the 28th edition of FIL Cuba, as a guest of honor, including the book by Mr. Mihoubi and other novelists, like Merzak Bagtache and Djilali Khellas.
