Algerian-Czech parliamentary friendship group set up


ALGIERS- The Algerian-Czech parliamentary friendship group was set up, Tuesday, at the People’s National Assembly for the promotion and coordination of the two countries’ positions in different parliamentary forums, said a communiqué of the Parliament’s Lower House.

“Relations between the two countries have experienced a qualitative leap under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika,” said the Assembly’s Vice President for External Affairs, Abderrazak Terbeche, who chaired the installation ceremony in the presence of the Czech ambassador to Algiers, Lenka Pokorna.

In addition, the same official mentioned “the important role of friendship groups in creating space for exchange on issues of common interest”, adding that the establishment of this group aims at “the promotion of the cooperation and coordination of positions in the different parliamentary fora “.

For her part, Czech Ambassador praised “the efforts made to promote and diversify bilateral cooperation in pursuit of the aspirations of both countries for more common achievements in the economic and cultural fields”.

For his part, the deputy Kacem Laid, president of this group, reiterated “the commitment of Algeria to the promotion of its cooperation with the Czech Republic”.
