Counterterrorism: Cache of weapons and ammunition found in Tamanrasset


ALGIERS – A cache of arms and ammunition has been found by a detachment of the People’s National Army (ANP) during a search operation conducted near the border strip south of Tamanrasset, said Monday a communiqué of the National Defence Ministry (MDN).

As part of the fight against organized crime, detachments of the National People’s Army intercepted, on February 4, 2019, during separate operations conducted in Tamanrasset and Djanet, sixty-three (63) gold miners and seized nine (09) all-terrain vehicles, (33) generators, (29) jackhammers, (28) bags of crude gold, and truck loaded with a significant amount of construction material.

In addition, elements of the National Gendarmerie seized (114) kilograms of treated Hashish in El-Bayadh and (4088) units of different drinks in Biskra.
