The Algerian government has lifted the ban it had previously imposed on imports of various goods, including the meat of horses, donkeys and fresh or frozen mules.
Speaking Thursday, January 31, at the forum of the Algerian Radio, the Director of Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Messaoud Bekah, highlighted that the import of the meat of horses, donkeys and fresh or frozen mules aims at covering the needs of foreigners living in Algeria.
“what must be understood is that there are dozens of companies which employ thousands of foreign workers, particularly from Asia, in the framework of the realization of investment projects in our country.” “They are not obliged to consume what we consume. So we have received dozens of applications from foreign companies to allow them to import certain food products for their workers. ”
In addition, the official emphasized that: “the law provides for the principle of free trade without any restriction”.
