Algiers Airport: Passenger, bound for Turkey, arrested in possession of nearly 25,000 euros

Border police at Algiers airport arrested a foreign national bound for Istanbul for illicit transfer of currency. His nationality has not been disclosed yet.

“The police recovered the sum of 24 500 euros as well as 100 dollars,” a DGNS statement said.

Security services keep flights to Turkey under close surveillance. Despite the stringent arrangements, attempts to transfer illegal currency are reported weekly.
