Algeria is not water-stressed country


ALGIERS-Thanks to the investments made in the water resources sector, Algeria is not a water-stressed country despite its geographical position that makes it prey to the drought induced by climate change, Water Resources Minister, Hocine Necib, affirmed Tuesday in Blida.


Speaking during his visit to the province of Blida, the minister said that “Algeria is not a water-stressed thanks to the achievements accomplished since the year 2000, which cost 55 billion dollars, “adding that these are 36 dams, several desalination and purification stations, and water distribution networks.

Besides, a National School of Water Professions will be created to ensure the transfer of experience and expertise to Algerians, benefiting from foreign expertise and train competent executives and elements so as to improve the services provided.
