NEW YORK- The Polisario Front underlined, Tuesday, that there is a real “window of opportunity” to resolve the conflict in western Sahara, calling on the Security Council to “act in the interest of the peace process.”
The Polisario Front stressed that the first round of peace talks held in Geneva “clearly showed” that the status quo was “unsustainable and an obstacle to peace”.
“We urge members of the European Union, in particular, to rethink their approach () and to support the United Nations peace process in Western Sahara by using trade as a positive incentive for a just and lasting peace agreement” continues the Polisario Front.
Reaffirming its support for the political process led by the UN, the Saharawi party explained that “the next rounds of peace negotiations must yield concrete results”.
