Algerians account for 12% of residence permit holders in Ile-de-France


 PARIS- The Algerians has made up 12% of the total of residence permit holders in 2017 in Ile-de-France, according to the figures published by the Development and Urbanism Institute (IAU) of the same French region.

Of the 96,000 residence permits granted in Ile-de-France in 2017, 11,613 were granted to Algerians, who are followed by Moroccans (8,012), Chinese (7,290), Tunisians (6,604) and Malians (3,383), according to the institute data released Monday. The five countries represent 40% of the beneficiaries of a legal stay in France, while the members of the Maghreb community alone represent 28% of the beneficiaries.

According to the Institute, students come mainly from Africa (44%) and Asia (36%), indicating that Chinese students are the most numerous (14%).

It should be noted, in this context, that Algerian students in France are among the most numerous to study in France amounting to 30,521 against 26,116 in 2017, according to the latest data from Campus France.
