Russia’s FM Sergey Lavrov pays tribute to Liberation War martyrs


ALGIERS-Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavror, on Thursday, paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the glorious Liberation War.

Mr. Lavrov laid a wreath in front of the commemorative stele and observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the War of Liberation.

The head of Russian diplomacy arrived, Wednesday night in Algeria, at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Abdelkader Messahel.

This visit is part of the political dialogue and ongoing consultation between the two countries, established since the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between Algeria and the Russian Federation, on 2 April 2001, at the end of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s state visit to Russia.
