Textile Industry: Algeria to record “qualitative leap” in 2019

The Minister of Industry and Mines, Youcef Yousfi, said Monday, January 21, the volume of non-hydrocarbon exports is expected to reach $ 3 billion, stating, moreover, that the textile industry in Algeria will record “a qualitative leap” in 2019.

According to the Minister’s forecasts, the national textile production will be up this year, referring to the public textile and leather group (Getex) which will “double” its production.

“The Getex group achieved a turnover of 10.5 billion dinars in 2016 and employs more than 8,000 employees,” pointed out the official.

In response to a question about facilities for textile investment, the minister said that the state is “ready” to study and encourage all private investors who want to invest in this niche. “The key is to boost the country’s economic output,” he added.
