Algeria’s Presidential Elections 2019: Benflis expresses intention to participate in electoral rendez-vous


As in 2014, the former head of government (2000-2003), Ali Benflis, will participate in the presidential elections for 2019, announced the official in a statement issued, yesterday Sunday, following the Presidential Decree, issued by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, convening the electorate for the Presidential Elections, scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2019.

“On this day, Sunday, January 20, 2019, I sent to the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Territorial Planning a letter announcing my intention to participate in the upcoming presidential elections, planned for Thursday, April, 18, 2019, ” pointed out  Ali Benflis.

He sent a letter to the Interior Ministry with his intention, saying a final decision over his candidacy will be made after holding a meeting with his Talaie El Houriat party (Vanguard of Freedoms).

As a reminder, retired Major-General Ali Ghediri announced, on Saturday, his intention to take part in the presidential elections of 18 April 2019.
