Counterterrorism: Five drug traffickers arrested in Western regions

Five (5) drug traffickers were arrested, in Tlemcen and Tissemsilt, by detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) and elements of the National Gendarmerie, said, Saturday, the Ministry of National Defense in a statement.

 “As part of the fight against organized crime and, following the operation that allowed, on January 17, 2019, the neutralization of a drug trafficker and seizure of (309) kilograms of treated Hashish in Hassi Khabi (3rd Military Region), a detachment of People’s National Army arrested two (2) drug traffickers in the same area, while Border Guards and elements of the National Gendarmerie arrested three others in Tlemcen and Tissemsilt and seized 34.5 kilograms of treated Hashish,” added the same source.

In addition, a detachment of People’s National Army “arrested, in in In Guezzam, eighteen (18) miners and seized an all-terrain vehicle, (4) generators, (4) jackhammers and various gold mining tools, while fifteen (15) illegal immigrants of different nationalities were intercepted in Adrar and Djanet “.

Besides, and following a search and rescue operation, Coast Guard “managed to save three (3) people stuck near the beach of Oued Saboun in Skikda”.
