WASHINGTON- The Head of the Algerian Managers Forum (FCE) Ali Haddad hailed, Monday in Washington, the consistent and rich Algerian-US relations, stressing that the bilateral partnership is characterized by “harmony and mutual respect.”
Speaking to the US Congress on the occasion of the launch of a reference book on Algeria entitled “Algeria and Transatlantic Relations”, a collaboration between the Think Tank Transatlantic Leadership Network and the FCE, M Haddad said relations between the two countries are becoming stronger in the political, economic, cultural and security fields.
Recalling the support of the United States to the Algerian people in their struggle for independence, the head of the FCE also emphasized the release of the 52 American hostages in Iran in 1981 through Algerian diplomatic mediation.
Ali Haddad, added that Algeria turned to the United States after the recovery of its independence, to form a large part of its elite and economic leadership.
“At the economic level, and beyond the cooperation in the energy field, companies in both countries have embarked, in recent years, on important projects in the fields of industry, agriculture, and scientific and technical cooperation, he pointed out.
“The economic policy led by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has created the conditions for further development and expansion of this cooperation,” said the president of the FCE.
The reference book on Algeria provides an overview of the history and political, economic and social realities of Algeria and the evolution of its relations with the United States.
The ceremony, which was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Abdelkader Bouazghi and Ambassador Madjid Bouguerra, was followed by a debate on opportunities for cooperation between Algeria and the United States.
The debate was led by Sacha Toperich and Jonathan Roberts respectively Vice President and Project Manager at the Think Tank Transatlantic Leadership Network, Pamela Beecroft Program Manager at the Center for International Private Enterprise, Mehdi Bendimerad, Vice President of the FCE , Samy Boukaila CEO of BKL Industries and Smail Chikhoune Chairman of the Algerian-American Business Council.
