South African Foreign Minister begins official visit to Algeria

ALGIERS- South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Lindiwe  Sisulu started Sunday evening an official visit to Algeria, at the invitation of Foreign Affairs Minister Abdelkader Messahel.

Upon his arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport, Lindiwe Sisulu, who is on a two-day official visit to Algeria, was welcomed by Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.

In a statement to the press, Sisulu said that “Algerians are our closest friends”, adding that she is looking forward to hold talks with her counterpart Messahel on Monday.

This visit, which is part of the strengthening of the fraternal, friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, will enable the two ministers to assess the state of bilateral relations and identify new prospects for partnership, with a view to lifting them to the level of privileged political relations between Algeria and South Africa.

As part of the ongoing coordination and consultation between the two countries, “the two ministers will also discuss a number of regional and international issues of common interest, particularly on the eve of important events, including the African Union ministerial meeting, European Union meeting scheduled in Brussels on 21 and 22 January, as well as the 32nd Summit of the African Union, to be held on 10 and 11 February 2019 in Addis Ababa “.
