ADSW: Algeria-UAE: Cooperation agreement on environment, renewable energies to be inked


A cooperation agreement on the environment and renewable energies will be signed by Algeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) started Saturday, said, on Sundayt, the ministry in a statement.

On the sidelines of the work of the Sustainability Week (ADSW) being held in Abu Dhabi from January 12 to 19, the Minister of the Environment and Renewable Energies, Fatima Zohra Zerouati, and Emirati Minister of Climate Change, Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, will proceed on 13 and 14 January to the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement on the environment and renewable energy, said the same source.

The co-ordinated Convention will cover several areas, such as; exchanges of experience in the field of environmental protection and pollution by insecticides and industries, the fight against desertification, in addition to the exchange of experiences in the field of renewable energies outside networks and the protection of the marine environment against pollution.

The event also includes a ceremony to honor the winners of the Zayed Future Energy Award for the 2019 session, which will be attended by the Minister of the Environment.

Under the theme “Accelerating the process of sustainable development”, this week-long event will see the participation of 38,000 participants from 175 countries, with a focus on how sectors act vis-à-vis the digital transfer operation in the global economy.

The main themes of the ADSW platform will focus on the concept of renewable energies.

Participants will also focus on opening dialogue and promoting international cooperation to ensure greater sustainability for future generations, the statement said.
