FM Messahel visits Crisis Management Initiative Center in Helsinki


Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel visited, on Friday, the Crisis Management Initiative Center (CMI) in Helsinki, where he met with officials from the institution headed by Tuija Talvitie.

This center, specialized in supporting mediation and dialogue initiatives around the world and embodies the legacy of President Martti Ahtisaari, is an institution whose objective is to contribute to the promotion of peaceful solutions to crises and raising awareness against threats to international peace and security.

During the visit, Messahel stressed that “Algeria has done a lot to promote peaceful solutions, mediation and dialogue, citing examples of peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea “.

In relation to the two main themes of the CMI, namely mediation and dialogue, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed “the importance of equidistance and non-interference, which are the principles underlying Algeria’s foreign policy “.

Mrs Talvitie expressed her “appreciation” for the exchanges she had with the Foreign Minister and for “Algeria’s efforts to stabilize the region and beyond”.
