FM Messahel: Algeria, “textbook case” of national reconciliation

COPENHAGEN-Speaking at a conference held Thursday the Royal Danish Defence College (Copenhagen), Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel stressed that Algeria is a “textbook case” of national reconciliation.

Messahel said that “the policy of national reconciliation, promoted by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and implemented under his leadership with the massive support, by referendum, of all the Algerian people, sacralizes the human life and places it above all other considerations, “adding that” it is based on the fundamental values of tolerance, dialogue, living together in peace, mutual acceptance and respect for difference “.

“And thanks to this policy that the country has quickly closed, by peaceful means and starting from the conviction that the path of legal repression necessarily has its limits, the wounds of the black decade and mobilized the entire people around the only objective that is the development of the country and the welfare of all its citizens, without exception or exclusion, in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic, “said Mr. Messahel.

Recalling Algeria’s initiative that the United Nations General Assembly had adopted on May 16 of each year as the International Day of + Living Together in Peace +, Mr. Messahel indicated that Algeria ” is working today to promote and anchor in the minds and behavior of citizens and institutions the values and virtues of living together in peace “.
