Algeria-Iraq parliamentary friendship group set up with a view to boost relations


Algeria-Iraq parliamentary friendship group was set up, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the People’s National Assembly, said a communiqué of the Parliament’s Lower House.

People’s National Assembly’s Vice President Abderrezak Terbeche, who presided the installation ceremony, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Algeria, Mr. Arkane Hardane Abdelgheffar, congratulated “the good” relations binding Algeria and Iraq, said the statement, noting, in this regard, Algeria’s willingness to “promote” its relations with all Arab and Muslim countries, particularly Iraq, with which it has “historical” relations and shares several “common denominators”.

The Iraqi diplomat emphasized, for his part, the “importance” of consolidating bilateral relations at different levels, calling on parliamentarians “to play a key role in consolidating this rapprochement, through the exchange of experiences and expertise and the agreements concluded between Algeria and Iraq “.

During this ceremony, the two sides discussed ways and means to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the parliamentary field.

In this capacity, parliamentarian Rabhi Akila, president of this parliamentary group, pledged to work together with her colleagues to “develop relations between Algeria and Iraq.
