Yennayer: Traditional dishes, Amazigh craft shows during Amazigh Cultural Week


The Amazigh cultural week will be celebrated from January 6 to 12 for the first time officially in Algeria at Rais-Bastion Palace, coinciding with Yennayer celebrations.

On the program of the event, an exhibition of Amazigh crafts, sweets served on Yennayer’s day and an exhibition and tastings of traditional dishes.

“Amenzu n Yennayer”, marking the first day of the Amazigh year, was officially introduced in the list of legal holidays in Algeria by Law No. 18-12 of July 2, 2018, amending and supplementing Law No. 63- 278 of July 26, 1963 fixing the list of legal holidays.

This law, promulgated and signed by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on July 2, fixes Yennayer on January 12 of each year.
