Algeria: Autonomous civil aviation agency to be created

A national civil aviation agency on civil security will be created, a communiqué of the Council of Ministers said Thursday.

The draft law amending the law establishing the general rules on civil aviation specifies that this is a recommendation of the International Civil Aviation Organization which invites Member States to establish an autonomous body for managing the safety and security of civil aviation.

The establishment of this Agency will also enable Algeria to strengthen the human capacity and financial resources that will be devolved to the management of the safety and security of civil aviation, a mission currently being taken over by a senior management team at Ministry of Transport, added the same source.

In addition, the draft text introduces the medical evacuation profession into the nomenclature of civil aviation activities authorized in Algeria.
