An Algeria-Argentina Friendship Parliamentary Group was installed, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the National People’s Assembly (Lower House) with the aim of exchanging experiences and developing joint action, said a statement from the Lower House.
Speaking on this occasion, the chairman of the commission, Abdelhamid If Afif, said that Algeria and Argentina are bound by “strong” and “historic” relations of friendship and cooperation, highlighting that the issuing, by Algeria, of a commemorative stele in tribute to Saint-Martin, an “icon” of the fight for the liberation of Latin America as well as the issuing, by Buenos Aires, of the commemorative stele honoring the memory of the founder of the modern Algerian state, Emir Abdelkader, aim at forging the continuous bonds of friendship between the two peoples.
For his part, Argentina’s Ambassador pointed out that the establishment of Algeria-Argentina friendship group is an opportunity to “further strengthen our relations”, despite the distance that separates the two countries.
