Minister of Housing, National Planning and the City Abdelwahid Temmar said, Tuesday in Algiers, that 1 128 424 housing units, out of a total of 2,153,668 units registered under the five-year program 2015-2019 were delivered until December 2018.
The minister pointed out that the progress of the projects was “considerable” during the first four years (2015-2018), stating that 52% of the houses were received. He added that 34% of dwellings are under construction, while construction works have not yet started for the remaining 14%.
“The pace of the realization of this project has witnessed a qualitative leap, with an average annual achievement of 280,000 units,” he continued.
“The budget allotted for 2015-2018 period was 2,065.43 billion dinars; 550, 78 billion dinars / year,” the minister highlighted.
Temmar has unveiled another 180,000 housing program for the 2019 fiscal year, which will begin construction in the first half of 2019, noting that it involves the construction of 90,000 AADL housing units, 40,000 rural housing units and 50,000 assisted promotional units.
In addition, the housing program for the period 2015-2019 includes 698,739 public rental housing units (LPL) (32%) and 470,000 AADL housing units (22%).
