GICA: Sigus Company to start cement production in March 2019


Cement production will begin “in March 2019” at the Sigus cement plant (province of Oum El Bouaghi) owned by the Algeria Cement Industry Group (GICA), the Company’s Finance and Budget Manager, Sofiane Bensaci announced Monday in Sigus.

With an investment exceeding 51 billion dinars and a production capacity of 2.2 million tons per year, the Sigus cement plant will create no less than 150 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect ones.

The entry into production of the Sigus cement plant belonging to the industrial cement group of Algeria (GICA) in Oum El Bouaghi will begin “in March 2019”, pointed out Sofiane Bensaci, Director of finance and budget of this company.

In this aspect, Nabil Ayadi, technical director of the Sigus cement plant, assured that the realization of this project took into consideration all aspects and parameters related to the protection and preservation of the environment, mentioning, in particular, the rational use of energy through means and techniques saving electricity.

As for the water, the same official indicated that the station envisaged for this purpose is being carried out within the framework of this project to allow the treatment of water and avoid pollution of the environment.
