Annual average inflation at 4.5% until November 2018

The annual consumer price trend was 4.5% until November 2018, APS learned from the National Office of Statistics (ONS).

The annual consumer price trend for November 2018 is the average annual inflation rate calculated taking into account the 12 months from December 2017 to November 2018 compared to the period from December 2016 to November 2017.

In terms of monthly change and by product category, food commodity prices were 1.4% lower in November than in October 2018, as a result of a decline in prices of fresh agricultural products (-2.9% ).

This downward trend in prices of fresh agricultural products was driven mainly by the fall in the prices of fruits (-11%), vegetables (-10.8%) including potatoes (-4.6%).

On the other hand, increases have characterized other food products, notably chicken meat (+ 5.3%) and eggs (+ 10.7%).

For the prices of industrial food products (agri-food), they increased slightly by 0.2%, due, in particular, to the rise in coffee prices (+ 1.4%).

Regarding the prices of manufactured goods, they saw an upward movement of 0.3% while those of services increased by 0.6%, pointed out the Office.

The rest of the product groups were characterized either by moderate variations or stagnations.
