Over 50 export contracts have been sealed during exhibitions of Algerian products abroad, Trade Minister Said Djellab announced Tuesday.
These exhibitions were organized in 2018 in the United States, Belgium, Gabon, Senegal, Qatar and Egypt.
According to him, the organization of Algerian product shows was decided by an interministerial committee headed by the Ministry of Commerce.
“We will continue our tour in Africa between 2019 and 2020. We plan to organize 25 Algerian product shows in African countries, all the countries of the world want to place their products on the African market, it is time for us to do so.”
“We have the same goal, in the short term, of diversifying exports as of January 2019, a year dedicated to the development of Algerian exports”.
Asked about adapting the banking system to the government’s ambitions to promote non-hydrocarbon exports, Mr. Djellab said the national meeting, held on Tuesday, aimed precisely at creating a space for exchange between bankers and economic operators in order to find solutions to the different constraints related to export financing.
Regarding the role of Algerian diplomatic representations in the promotion of exports, Mr. Djellab said that the presence of Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel at this national meeting proves the mobilization of the Algerian diplomatic apparatus for the promotion of non-hydrocarbon exports .
He said the success of the national export promotion strategy is everyone’s business, not just the Ministry of Commerce.
